Sushi specials for 2017

Are you a sushi devotee? Well, get those chopsticks ready, Moneybags writer, Alina Hardcastle has created a round up sushi specials that are currently offered in Cape Town, Joburg and Durban.

Cape Town

Active Sushi – Mirage (Green Point)

Eat as much Sushi as you like for R199 at Active Sushi.  This special is available on Tuesday and Friday between 17:30 and 22:00 and all day on Saturdays and Mondays. An additional charge of R8 will be billed for every piece of sushi not consumed. Takeaways are not allowed.  Visit their website to view other specials that are available from Monday to Saturday between 11:30 and 15:30.

Cape Town Fish Market (Nationwide)

On Tuesdays, Cape Town Fish Market offers 50% off classic sushi and 25% off sushi platters. Signature sushi is not included in the Tuesday promotion. Sharing and takeaways are not allowed.

Beluga (Green Point)

Situated in Green point, Beluga offers half price sushi, dim sum and cocktails from Monday to Saturday between 12:00 and 19:00 and all day on Sundays.

Sevruga (V&A Waterfront)

The sister restaurant of Beluga, Sevruga, offers half price sushi, dim sum and cocktails from 12:00 until 18:00 from Monday to Saturday and all day on Sundays.

Manga (Moullie Point)

Newly opened in Moullie point, Manga celebrates an electric mix of Asian and Eastern cultures. On Tuesdays, you can enjoy two for the price one discounts on all sushi off the classic sushi menu from 17:00 onwards. They also have happy hour on selected wines and craft beers between 16:00 and 19:00.

Salushi (Claremont)

Praised for their value menu, Salushi’s discounts varying between 10% and 50% on selected sushi including special items. This special is available daily from 12:00 until 17:00 as well as on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings.

Students with valid student cards can get 50% off Salushi’s a la carte menu on Mondays between 12:00 and 17:00.

Asian Asia

Asian Asia offers a daily all you can eat style sushi buffet  for either R139 or R155. The R155 special includes sashimi, house specials other Chinese specialities and soups whereas the R139 includes your classic sushi i.e. salmon roses, fashion sandwiches, California rolls and more. You can also enjoy the super sushi platters  for only R69.

John Dory’s (Nationwide)

On Wednesday day, enjoy 50% discount off colour coded sushi plates and Graca all day; and on Saturdays from 11:00 onwards, John Dory offers half price sushi platters. This special is valid for sit-downs only and no sharing is allowed.

Blowfish

Blowfish offers half Price sushi every Wednesday and Sundays from 17:00 to 20:00.

Johannesburg

Beluga (Meadowood)

Beluga offers half price sushi, dim sum and cocktails from Monday to Saturday between 12:00 and 19:00 and all day on Sundays.

John Dory’s (Nationwide)

On Wednesday, enjoy 50% discount off colour coded sushi plates and Graca wine all day; and on Saturdays from 11:00 onwards, John Dory offers half price sushi platters. This special is valid for sit-downs only and no sharing is allowed.

Simply Asia (Selected stores)

Selected Simply Asia stores sushi specials, the branches are as follows:

  • Atlas Mall, Boksburg: All day on Mondays
  • Clubview: All day on Wednesday
  • Eastgate: All day on Thursday
  • Kyalami: Every day from 12:00 until 18:00

On Mondays, get three of the same colour-coded plates for the price of two. On Tuesdays, get pink sushi plates for R44 each. Forty four cents per pink plate will be donated to the non-profit company Pink Drive, which specialises in breast cancer awareness initiatives. This offer is available for sit-down only. There is also a daily lunch special for R55 between 11:00 and 12:00: pay R85 for a six piece sushi lunch or R55 for dumplings, chicken teppanyaki, veg and choice of starch between 11:00 and 17:00 every day.

Yume (Monte Casino, Parkhurst, Clearwater, Dainfern)

Get 50% off sushi on Mondays at Yume.  This special excludes purple plates. It’s for sit-downs only and is not available on public holidays. You can also enjoy their three for the price of two special on Tuesdays. You can order any two three plates of the same colour and get the third plate for free.

Yamada Sushi (Waterfall Corner, Rivonia, Birnam)

Enjoy Yamada’s all you can get sushi buffet for R155 per person. This special is available all week.

Durban

Bamboo Sushi Lounge

Bamboo Sushi Lounge offers half price sushi all day, every day. This special excludes starters, buffets, combos, bamboo kids menu and desserts.

You can also enjoy sushi buffet which will be offered once a week. Thirty varieties of sushi will be available for R185 in all you can eat style promotion; and every Thursday, all groups of four ladies can enjoy a free bottle of wine with their sushi buffet for only R125. The special is available from 17:00 onwards.
